KimChikin - Contemporary Korean Chicken

The Korean Invasion has taken World Domination like roasted chestnuts in Dubai Global Village!

So, to keep up with the fad, we have invaded(again)one of the many Korean Food Stops in Dubai. Kimchikin - Contemporary Korean Chicken had been there for a time now and have undergone some changes through the years. One has remained the same: the K-Pop vibe!

The PLACE - Located beside Park Regis Hotel in Karama, this fried chicken spot can be easily spotted via a car or by walking from Burjuman Metro station. The walls are filled with note pads from customers with drawings and dedications mentioning of course the amazing chicken. The lighting is sufficient but a tad bit brighter than most restaurants - probably for picture taking purposes. You can ask the staff for some notes and coloring materials so you can make your own note as well. It is a fast food place so tables and chairs are of standard designs. Some are wood and others are plastic. There are high chairs available too if you want to be elevated at some point.

See the notes? You can make you own while waiting for your order.

PALATE - The house specialty is Korean Fried Chicken that comes in Soy and Spicy flavors. They are both crispy and saucy all at the same time. They also serve Korean Noodles, Korean appetizers and Korean Juices. Of course, KIMCHI is the strawberry on top! They have Kimchi, Kimchi coleslaw and Kimchi soup. Although they do not have Korean Grills on their menu, they menu is quite sufficient for all your cravings. Serving size is adequate and filling enough to be a meal. Sharing can also be done with friends which makes it even better.

Japchae is LOVE!

The famous Kimchikin Soy Chicken! :)

Korean dining won't be complete without these side dishes and KIMCHI!

PRICE - Packages and Combo Meals are available for you to choose. Noodles and Soups are sold separately but are quite enough for the price. Servings are adequate and at par with the price. Side dishes include Kimchi, coleslaw, buttered corn, pickled radish, rice and more. Spicy food is adjustable with the level of your preference. All of which are available and reasonable. Again, we suggest that you dine as a group as it makes you save a lot on your dirhams.

Recommendations:

Kimchikin doesn't have much space for dining. Given this, we suggest that you call them for a house delivery. This way, you will be able to enjoy to the fullness the crispy Korean chicken that they take pride in. You may not be able to experience the K-Pop of its ambience but trust us, there is more K-Pop goodness in every bite of their famous chicken!

PF Chang's - China Bistro

This week’s menu : PF Chang’s China Bistro!

PF Chang's China Bistro - Mall Of the Emirates

We all have heard and seen this name on the social media posts of our friends. But what do they really serve? We spent a simple afternoon knowing their menu and the delicious meals we can order from them.

Let’s start with the PLACE – Very cozy and seems expensive. Of course, they have to live up to the brand has been known worldwide. Mood lighting is very important to have a different dining experience. It is not that well lit nor too dark - red and yellow shades normally light the entire restaurant. Chinese wall paper, artwork and jars adorn the place with comfy furniture that is nice for long meals and long conversations. The staff as well is very accommodating. They know what the clients deserve which is good service with a smile.

Red and yellow lights make the place cozy and relaxing.

The PALATABILITY – Chinese cuisine is very delicate. It is known worldwide and variations have been made and are introduced so it is quite difficult to say that it is Chinese Food. As far as palette is concerned, the food is “capsicum-istic, pepper-potpourri and pei-wei”.  Enough pepper, savory, sweet and tangy, spice was just right and presentation is appetizing. The Menu goes from chicken, duck to beef – a good list of noodles and house specialties!

The PRICE – Since it is a known brand, it is expected to be quite of a good value. Middle class earners can have a good meal at this place where they can enjoy a full meal with a good drink. We suggest that you take the Traditional Ice Tea as it is bottomless. Each main dish on the menu includes a serving of rice already so there is no need to order rice if you are eating alone. When in groups, it is also a good idea to order the basics with their appetizers and one or two off the main dish list. The portions are quite

Never hesitate to ask the waiting team on what they can suggest for you be assisted on what to order and how much you have for the budget. Remember that it is not humiliating to be on budget – what is wrong is going off budget on things that you do not understand.

Recommendations:

Appetizers – PF Chang’s is very proud of their signature dishes. We suggest that you order with the Chicken Lettuce Wraps and the known Dynamite Shrimp. They are both delicious and good on your budget.

Main Dish – The list can go on with their Main Dish but we recommend the Wok Charred Beef, the Sweet and Sour Chicken and the VIP Duck. These meals come with a bowl of either brown or white rice. Portions are quite generous so sharing would not be a problem.

They also have choices of soups and noodles depending on your preference.

We tried the Great Wall of China cake which was absolutely divine. The large portion of chocolate cake with chocolate/caramel icing in between layers was tasty which seals a lovely meal. Chocolate chip bits sprinkled generously give it texture and a balance between sweet and bitter cocoa taste.
